If each of us comes on Earth with a specific number of breaths, then surely time is the most important asset that we have. All our decisions should be governed by a simple metric, Is this the best use of my remaining time?
On the face of it, the question seems rhetorical and quite deep, but frankly any Yes you get can be reasoned off to a No. This is a loop so strong, it leads to a crisis where one does nothing, because nothing seems worth doing.
Asking the right question is therefore most relevant. What should I do now, so that I can start gaining more and more control of my time?
What if we design our everyday life? Each day will then have nuggets of time that are spent worthwhile. Some for the present you, some for the you in 6 months, some for the you in 2 years, some for the you in 10 years. As we design and execute this more and more, the you might keep on getting better and better.
Over long months and years, the seconds and hours compound. This compounding may work against us, in case of bad habits. This compounding works for us in case of good habits. As far as addiction is concerned, it is best to get addicted to something that is awesome and beneficial and net-rewarding, than something that chips away at our being bit by bit everyday.
शनै: शनै: or Slowly, slowly one can devote all time of the day to where one has designed so. That is truly becoming rich!
